Besides watering the flowers and panting new ones, my group decided we should do something to get more involved. We asked Mr. Voelz if we could print out new pictures to hang in the hallway that were more up to date. He told us that he already had a few in mind, so we decided that it would be best to do something else instead. We chose to take over the hall of fame project. My group and I were given a template by mr. Large to use as a new format for the hall of fame pictures. We put all of the pictures from the hall of fame on the template so they can be viewed on the tv screen. It took quite a while, because there were so many individuals and teams that made it into the hall of fame. We used photoshop to position the pictures and add them to the template. We also selected a font, and added the date and the persons accomplishment on the template. If it was an individual picture it would say the date and their name. We would then drag them back onto the google drive where we got the original pictures, so then we had a copy of each. We can send them to Mr. Voelz now, so that he can display them on a screen.

My group and I were trying to figure out our game day experience project, but things started to fall through. Parents weren't emailing back in time to have their kids participate in the winter sports. We were having trouble getting people to participate in the project as far as teachers nominating enough students to make it worth the while. My partners and i kept saying we would inform the parents with more detail, but when details were sent I was having trouble getting a response from the participants parents, so in the end our project ended up falling through. We are having a little trouble coming up with a new project that wont cause a lot of stress or take too much time knowing spring break is coming up and then we will only have about 5 weeks left. Until we can think of a more permanent project we have been helping Mr. Voelz plant flowers in the pots in front of our school. Next week we will also be helping him plant more flowers around the trees in front of our school. Today we had to pull plants out of the pots, fill them with the planting soil, insert the new flowers, and then cover them with mulch. We finished by watering all of the plants which we will keep up on each day.
Recently we finished then Hoops for Hope project which included the whole service learning class. We were able to raise over $4,000 for the family. They were very grateful for everything we did to raise money for their family. The student section wore Andrew's Army shirts during the game, and we facetimed him during the starting lineup so he felt like he was there with us. After the third quarter we raffled off the baskets. That project has now come to an end and it is time to start working on our own projects. I emailed a parent of one of the students parents, and they emailed e back saying their child would be happy to participate. He is in elementary school, and would like to come to visit baseball practices. We still have to come up with the rest of the details when it gets to be closer to baseball season. For now that is where we are with our project!
For our new project we decided to do something called the game day experience. Students in the past have a done a project like this and it was very successful. This project is going to give younger students an opportunity to experience what game day/practice is like for high school students, which are who the younger kids look up to. We sent out a google form to all teacher at sugar creek elementary. The teachers were told to nominate a student they think would really enjoy/ get something out of being included in this project. They were told to nominate one student and we will narrow them down. They have the option to attend pretty much any type of sporting event it is their choice. For right now, we have gotten around 5 teacher responses and we are waiting on more to make our final decision! As well as working on our own project we have been helping collect donations for baskets for Hoops for Hope. My partner and I have been collecting items for a "spa" basket. We went to places such as New Palestine Barbershop, Bahama Mama, and the Wellness Center to collect items to include in a basket that will be raffled off.
